Isabella Stewart Gardner (April 14, 1840-July 17, 1924) was an influential art collector, philanthropist, and patron of the arts whose collection is now housed in the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, which she established in 1903. Gardner was also known as "Mrs. Jack" in reference to her husband, John L. "Jack" Gardner, a rich Boston financier. She was a friend of noted artists including John Singer Sargent, who painted her several times. She is buried in the Mount Auburn Cemetery.
