Metro International is a European company that publishes free daily newspapers in Europe, Asia, North America and South America. They target a primarily young, urban audience. They have been criticized for lacking substance, but The Boston Metro has quickly become one of the city's most popular dailies.

Metro is the seventh largest general interest newspaper in the United States. The three US Metro editions (Philadelphia, New York) have a combined circulation of 620,000 daily copies and the three cities where Metro is distributed generate combined gross annual newspaper advertising spend of US$ 7 billion.
